I became a gymnast at Dumfries Y Gymnastics Club when I was 8 years old and competed in the 4 piece section until 15 years of age.
I have always been keen to stay involved with the club, starting with volunteering at the age of 14 and gaining my Level 1 Womens Artistic Coaching Award at the age of 16. I have now successfully completed courses in Safeguarding, First Aid and Level 1 Floor and Vault judging. The club has helped me progress as a coach, completing a Pre-School Coaching Award and I am currently sitting my Level 2 Womens Artistic Coaching.
This year, I have started my SVQ 3 in Leisure Management which I am completing through the club. This is a year long course and I hope to gain lots of knowledge on this subject in order to better myself as a coach.
I love being a gymnastics coach and seeing the gymnasts have lots of fun while progressing themselves through the sport. My next goal is to pass my Level 2 Womens Artistic Exam to gain myself another qualification and expand my knowledge in the sport.

I started at Dumfries Y when I was 6 years old and competed with the Club up until 12 years of age.
I wanted to maintain my involvement with the Club so began coaching as a volunteer which was the start of coaching journey.
While completing a 2 year HND college course in 'Coaching and Development', the Y provided me with many opportunities to develop my coaching role at the club. I have successfully completed my Womens Artistic Level 1 and Level 2 Coaching Awards and I am currently in the process of doing the Level 3 theory. Through the years I have also completed courses in Safeguarding, First Aid and Level 1 Floor and Vault judging. All of these courses offered by the Club have helped me progress from a part-time volunteer, to currently a full-time Coach at the Club. I gain a lot from working as a gymnastics coach. I love seeing the gymnasts progress and have fun in our sport. I am excited for my future with the Club and aim to widen my qualifications further in the coming years.
