Club Sessions
Dumfries Y Gymnastics Club brings together years of experience, fantastic facilities and the belief that every child can achieve their full potential in the sport of gymnastics. A registered charity operating from our own fully-equipped premises in Dumfries town centre and our newly opened facility in Annan, we aim to develop a child’s confidence, flexibility, strength, co-ordination and balance in a fun and interactive way. Our competitive classes encourage those taking their skills further to compete at regional, national and even international level. Boys and girls of all ages are welcome. Find out more. Click here for information about classes and bookings or contact us.

  • Fundamentals

Our Fundamentals group consists of gymnasts between 5 and 8 years old who have shown potential to progress into the main Competitive groups.  They train on all 4 pieces, between 5 and a half to 8 hours per week.

  • Dual Development

These gymnasts train at both our Dumfries and Annan Facilities, they are aged between 5 and 7 years old. They train 4 hours per week and compete at floor and vault competitions and this is a pathway to our main competitive groups.

  • Men's Artistic Gymnastics

We started a new MAG section in 2022, where we have Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced sections training weekly. We hope 2024 will see more development within this section and Reccy4All, throughout the year. There are opportunities for these gymnasts to compete at in house and external competitions at the discretion of the coaches.

We have an awards scheme that they work towards throughout the year and are given the opportunity to compete at in-house competitions. This is offered at both our Dumfries and Annan facilities. Within these classes gymnasts are given session superstars, which are weekly certificates given to gymnasts that have shown good sportsmanship, hard work and learning new skills. This is chosen by the coach and given to different gymnasts each week.

  • Limitless

Limitless is our display section made up of former gymnasts and new gymnasts with an interest in dance and gymnastics. Combining gymnastics skills with choreography, Limitless gives the opportunity for ex-gymnasts and new gymnasts to develop their gymnastics floor skills and tumbling whilst putting together formal routines to showcase at Club and community events. Limitless also participate in competitions for display groups such as Sapphire competition, as well as Gymfest, a national event attended by some of the top Acro and display squads in the UK.

  • GymDance

This section is a display group for our younger gymnasts aged between 5-11 years with an interest in dance and gymnastics. This group come together one Saturday each month to put together a routine and perform it in front of smaller audiences. This is a section that allow for gymnasts to move into the Limitless team as they get older and stronger in their skills.

A new class for those in pre-school classes aged 3+ who are showing the ability to advance their skills on all 4 pieces. This will include a more structured training session and progress to more challenging skills. This is also to be offered at Annan Y in the near future. These gymnasts are given the opportunity to compete at our in-house competitions. This is a pathway which can lead into to our competitive squads.
